Magnetic particle testing is generally used for surface crack detection of hook head on port machinery. In addition to the undercut and neck root of the hook thread. the bending part of the hook (i.e. the dangerous section) should also be the focus of fatigue crack inspection. The crack can be found by the method of coil and yoke. The defects perpendicular to the axis of the coil can be found by the coil method. The neck and thread of the hook can be detected by the coil method.
There are also nondestructive testing of other parts of port machinery. Ultrasonic inspection can be used to inspect the traveling shaft. pulley shaft. drum shaft and other important bearing shafts of gantry crane. Because of the strong penetrability of ultrasonic testing and the sensitivity to the crack at the variable cross-section. it is convenient to use in the detection of shaft.
